Our Garden Dining Pods in Goathland are returning to the Mallyan Spout Hotel, bringing cosy outdoor dining back to the heart of the North York Moors this autumn and winter.
Available from Friday 23rd October 2026 until Sunday 3rd January 2027, our four private dining pods offer a wonderfully different way to enjoy lunch, afternoon tea or an evening meal in Goathland.
Tucked away in our hotel garden, each pod gives you your own cosy space for up to eight guests. Settle in for two hours, order something delicious and enjoy the atmosphere of the season outside, while staying sheltered from the North Yorkshire weather.
As autumn gives way to winter, there’s something rather special about dining in the garden. Crisp afternoons, dark winter evenings and the peaceful surroundings of Goathland all add to the experience, whether you’re joining us as a couple, getting the family together or catching up with friends.

Bookings open Thursday 1st October 2026, with a £25 pod hire fee required to secure your reservation.

When are the Mallyan Spout Hotel Garden Dining Pods open?
Our Garden Dining Pods are available from Friday 23rd October 2026 until Sunday 3rd January 2027.
Bookings open from Thursday 1st October 2026 and can be viewed by clicking here.
The pods will be closed on Christmas Day.
What times can I book a dining pod?
Our standard booking times are:
11:45am, 12pm, 2:15pm, 2:30pm, 4:45pm, 5pm, 7:15pm and 7:30pm.
Each booking gives you exclusive use of your pod for two hours.
On Christmas Eve, the final available pod time is 5pm.
On New Year’s Eve, the final available pod time is 2:30pm.
How long do we have the pod for?
Each Garden Dining Pod is reserved for two hours from your booked start time.
Please arrive promptly as we cannot extend your booking if you arrive late. The pod will still need to be vacated at the original finishing time so our team can prepare it for the next guests.
All guests must leave the pods by 9:30pm and the pods close completely at 10pm.
How much does it cost to hire a dining pod?
There is a £25 hire fee per pod, payable when you make your reservation.
The hire fee is non-refundable and covers the hire of the pod only. Food and drinks are charged separately.
Your reservation is not confirmed until the £25 hire fee has been paid.
How many people can dine in a pod?
Each of our four dining pods can accommodate a maximum of eight guests, including children.
What food is available in the dining pods?
You can choose between our Bar Menu and Afternoon Tea Menu when dining in the pods.
Everyone within your booking must dine from the same menu. For example, your whole group can choose the Bar Menu or your whole group can enjoy Afternoon Tea, but the two menus cannot be mixed within the same pod booking.
Food and drinks are not included in the £25 pod hire fee.
Can children dine in the pods?
Yes. Families are very welcome in our Garden Dining Pods.
Children must be included within the maximum capacity of eight guests and must be accompanied by an adult. Children cannot dine in a pod without an adult present.
When making your reservation, please let us know the ages of any children included in your booking.
Are dogs allowed in the dining pods?
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted inside the Garden Dining Pods.
Can I bring a pushchair into the pod?
Pushchairs cannot be accommodated inside the dining pods due to the space available.
Are the Garden Dining Pods wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately, our Garden Dining Pods are not wheelchair accessible.
Where do we go when we arrive?
When you arrive at the Mallyan Spout Hotel, please come through the hotel’s main entrance and make your way to Reception.
One of our team will welcome you and show you to your Garden Dining Pod.

Our dining pods are located in the garden at the Mallyan Spout Hotel in Goathland, North Yorkshire, in the heart of the North York Moors.
They offer a cosy outdoor dining experience while still giving you easy access to the hotel and our team throughout your visit.
Do I need to book a dining pod in advance?
Yes. We recommend booking in advance as we have just four Garden Dining Pods and availability is limited to specific two-hour dining times.
Your booking is only confirmed once the £25 pod hire fee has been paid.
